Hawley's Carson Leaving Company

Published November 30, 2009

LEXINGTON, SC (BRAIN)—The Hawley Company purchasing director Dave Carson is leaving the company at the end of the month and will move back to the Seattle area.

“Watching my kids and grandkids grow without us around has been a part of life that I have missed. We can't always be close to the ones we love, but at some point we have to make those decisions that are best for us and our families," Carson said. “During these last five years, I've been blessed with working with some of the finest people in the bicycle industry and I will miss them."

With a total of 33 years in the industry, Carson has spent the past five years based in Lexington, South Carolina, serving as the director of purchasing and product development for Hawley. Prior to joining Hawley, Carson worked for Raleigh Bicycles and others including Peugeot and GT.

During his time at Hawley, Carson effectively managed inventory as the company more than doubled its revenues. In addition, he successfully developed house brands such as Eleven81 and Singleworks.

"Dave is one of the nicest guys in the industry," said president Steve Hawley. “After 33 years in the business, he has many friends throughout the industry. Although he is not retiring, we want to publicly thank Dave for the great job he has done for us and let all his industry friends know where to find him after the first of the year.”

The Hawley Company will begin searching for a replacement for Carson in January.
