Alternative Bikes offers new multi-tool, the Sardine

Published November 7, 2022

(BRAIN) — Japanese distributor Alternative Bikes has developed its own multi-tool, called the Sardine, that is designed to be lightweight and easy to use.

"Bicycle multi-tools have been the same, not innovated for a long time. They are box-shaped, bulky, clumsy to use and heavy," the company said. "The newly designed multi-tool, Sardine, is stick-shaped, lightweight (only 38g!) and easy to use! The shape makes you turn it fast when it's straight to save your time. Also you can firmly loosen or tighten a bolt when it's a right angle. The four tool bits move around so you can use it at any angle even in a narrow space such as installing a bottle cage or a saddle. Flipping it over while turning makes loosening/tightening fast and firm.

"The bits are intentionally limited to five functions: HEX 6/5/4/3 and Torx T25. It also is compatible with a Topeak 8mm socket.

A holder can be installed under a bottle cage. It also can be purchased separately. The tool will be available this month and will retail for about $60.
