SUZHOU, China (BRAIN) — E-bike drive system company Bafang said it's taking the lead in e-bike racing. The company has teamed up with Dutch mountain bike brand American Eagle, and with Bart Brentjens, the brand's product manager and the first male Olympic mountain bike gold medalist.

Brentjens and his team designed a dual-suspension frame that integrates the Bafang M500 mid-drive system with an InTube battery. "The M500's maximum torque (95Nm) and minimum weight (3.0kg) are as well a strong foundation for future racing success as are the carbon frame made for 29" wheels and 100mm of front and rear travel," the company said.

The bike is expected to be raced in Albstadt, Germany, during the UCI MTB World Cup where there is a special e-MTB race, and at the UCI e-MTB World Championships in Mont Saint Anne, Canada, this summer.

Bafang also announced a new consumer friendly website at bafang-e.com, which shows the different applications of Bafang's drive systems. A dedicated OEM website offers information to assemblers and manufacturers globally.
