Rocky Mountain Bicycles launches 27.5-plus Pipeline series

Published April 12, 2016

MONTEREY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Rocky Mountain is introducing a new 27.5-plus model, the Pipeline, at the Sea Otter this week. The bike has 150mm of front travel combined with 130mm in the rear for an aggressive trail ride.

“The new Pipeline plows through greasy roots and square-edged chunder with authority, while providing near limitless traction on rocky, slippery climbs,” the company said.

The Pipeline has a carbon front triangle combined with an ally rear triangle. It fits up to 27.5x3.25 tires and is single-chainring specific.

It comes with lightweight bolt-on axles, which save 50 grams per bike compared to a Maxle. The suspension pivots feature grease ports for easy maintenance.

It had internal cable routing and comes equipped with a Stealth dropper post. The frame has a PressFit BB92 bottom bracket, IS42/IS52 headset, and Boost axle spacing.

It comes in S/M/L/XL.

The RIDE-9 system allows riders to adjust geometry and suspension rates to specific riding styles, terrain, and rider weights. Nine configurations are possible thanks to two interlocking chip inserts that move on two separate axes.

The bike will be available in two builds. The Pipeline 770 MSL model will retail for $4,799 ($5,999 CAD); the Pipeline 750 MSL model is $3,999 USD ($4,999 CAD). The bikes will be available in mid-May.
