INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Specialized Bicycle Components added to its growing list of company-owned retail stores by acquiring the four-store Gray Goat Bicycle Co. chain, two sources have told BRAIN.
Specialized and Gray Goat Bicycle Co. President/Owner Brian Gootee declined comment.
AUSTIN, Texas (BRAIN) — London-based private equity group Inflexion has signed a definitive agreement to acquire enviolo Inc., the maker of stepless gear drivetrain components used primarily on e-bikes.
AMES, Iowa (BRAIN) — Cycle Force Group, LLC has been acquired by Messingschlager GmbH, a German distributor. The sale closed on Dec. 31, 2021.
HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (BRAIN) — A consortium headed by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. reached a conditional agreement to buy the Accell Group N.V. The group, which includes Teslin Alpine Acquisition B.V., reached agreement on an all-cash offering for the shares for 1.56 billion euros ($1.76 billion).
SAN DIEGO (BRAIN) — Tony Ellsworth is returning to his namesake mountain bike brand after a four-year absence to become chief development/design officer.
DETROIT (BRAIN) — Cardinal Cycling Group, a new company formed last year to acquire the TIME bicycle business from Rossignol, has acquired Detroit Bikes.
CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM announced Wednesday the acquisition of cycling computer brand Hammerhead. The transaction was completed Dec. 30.
SEATTLE (BRAIN) — Kona Bicycles has been acquired by Kent Outdoors, a Ohio-based company that was known until Wednesday as Kent Water Sports. Kent Outdoors owns several outdoor sports and watersport brands, including the Arbor snowboard brand.
VANTAA, Finland (BRAIN) — Amer Sports has sold the Finnish adventure wearables brand Suunto to Liesheng, a Chinese technology brand. Amer is the parent of Enve Composites, Louisville Slugger, Arcteryx, Wilson and other brands, and the former owner of Mavic.
BALTIMORE (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycles has purchased Maryland's Race Pace Bicycles, which has seven locations in the Baltimore area.
Owner Alex Obriecht announced the sale this week to employees, and later to consumers on social media.
OLD FORT, N.C. (BRAIN) — With the assistance of a group of North Carolina investors, Kitsbow employees have purchased the majority shares of the cycling apparel brand after 10 years of private ownership.
MONTRÉAL (BRAIN) — Dorel Industries has completed its sale of Dorel Sports — which includes Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose and other bike brands — to Pon Holdings, for $810 million. The planned acquisition was announced in October.
ANOKA, Minn. (BRAIN) — Vista Outdoor Inc. is acquiring the hunting gear brand Stone Glacier, which will be part of its outdoor products segment. Vista Outdoor's Action Sports segment includes Bell, Giro, Blackburn and Quietkat.
