Dahon signs Central European distributor Dema Bicycles

Published October 27, 2014

DUARTE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Dahon has signed an agreement with Slovakia-based Dema Bicycles to distribute the folding-bike brand across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and the Faroe Islands.

Founded in 1991, Dema has more than 320 dealers in the Czech Republic and nearly 500 in Slovakia, representing numerous bike and accessory brands. Boasting their own assembly line at their headquarters in Senice, Slovakia, the company also distributes Dema-brand bikes to countries across Europe. Dema plans to double production over the next four years to 1 million bikes annually.

The new agreement adds four countries to Dahon’s 20-strong European distribution network.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with this partnership,” said Rob Kozich, European market development manager for Dahon. “It’s a mutually beneficial situation: Dahon is a strategic addition to the growth of Dema in the urban category, while for Dahon we can access an extensive retail network as well as benefit from working with Dema, who can market, sell, distribute and service Dahon at a high level.”
