Woom unveiling platform for selling, buying its kids' bikes

AUSTIN, Texas (BRAIN) — Woom announced on Earth Day Wednesday a resale marketplace platform for parents to sell and purchase the brand's used kids' bikes in a pledge to sustainability.

Woom Exchange will be operated in conjunction with Archive, a resale platform whose clients include Peloton, The North Face, lululemon, and New Balance. Exchange will be rolled out in phases beginning in mid-May and will begin with current owners listing their bikes online. Afterward, the program will open to buyers wanting to purchase authenticated pre-owned kids' bikes.

Customers can sign up starting Wednesday to be among the first to access Exchange. Buyers will have local pickup options, and once the bike is purchased, sellers have the option of cash redemption or choose a credit toward another bike.

According to woom, the secondhand market is growing among families, with the baby and kids' resale market projected to grow more than 150% in the future. Woom noted that its used bikes have been in demand and sold on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and that Exchange will ensure a more secure way to buy and sell.

"Woom has built an incredibly loyal customer base around a product designed to last and to be passed on," said Ryan Rowe, Archive co-founder and CTO. "With woom Exchange, we're creating a resale experience that meets families where they are, offering convenience, trust, and flexibility, while reinforcing the long-term value of every bike. This launch expands our footprint in the kids' category, where we see real opportunity to build resale programs that match the way families actually shop and think about quality."
