Shimano Europe now committed to attend Eurobike in June

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — After announcing in January it wouldn't participate in this year's Eurobike, Shimano Europe will be in attendance after all in June. A Eurobike press release issued by show organizer Fairnamic on Tuesday confirmed Shimano Europe, Canyon Bicycles, FSA, Kenda, and Tektro Europa among others.

Show organizers said in January they were optimistic about continued talks with Germany's two bicycle trade groups that announced last year that they no longer would support the show. Shimano Europe is the longtime partner of the German distributor Paul Lange, whose managing partner, Bernhard Lange, is a board member of the ZIV trade group that pulled its support from Eurobike last year. Other major exhibitors, including Bosch and Schwalbe, also withdrew.

Eurobike announced the e-mobility event Mobifuture at last June's show. Mobifuture was planned to be held at the same venue as Eurobike over the same dates, with a single entry ticket. In October, the two German trade groups pulled their support, saying in part that Mobifuture would be a distraction from Eurobike's focus on the traditional bike market.

In its Tuesday release, Eurobike said about half of the planned one-on-one interviews with "market players" from the bike and mobility industry have been completed "and the Fairnamic team is gathering strong feedback and fresh ideas from the bike industry and its community."

At this year's Eurobike, Shimano will have an outdoor testing area for consumers. "Eurobike is an important trade show and we are committed to providing the newly formed Trade Fair Advisory Board our support in developing the event," said Shimano Marketing Director David Greenfield. "Shimano will have a vital and more focused presence at Eurobike this year. It is an exciting opportunity for people to experience our technologies in the best possible way: by enjoying a nice ride in the fresh air."

The 34th Eurobike will take place from June 24-27.
