Updated with Fox Factory's employee-assistance fund.

HILDEBRAN, N.C. (BRAIN) — Residents affected by Hurricane Helene are only beginning to recover days after the storm left destruction from Florida to Virginia. Industry members are establishing ways to support recovery remotely.

Hildebran, North Carolina, sock maker DeFeet International was unaffected by the storm and its employees have been working to assist recovering efforts. The company also is offering a special edition MTN Strong sock with 100% of proceeds donated to relief efforts.

Newton, North Carolina, sock brand Feetures donated 100% of the proceeds of its online sales from Wednesday to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.

Other funds:

  • A Western North Carolina cyclist has launched a GoFundMe campaign with proceeds going to Beloved Asheville, a local nonprofit.
  • Fox Factory, which has a facility in North Carolina, has set up an employee-assistance fund.  The company is funding the program that helps employees affected by the hurricane; the public can also make tax-deductible donations to the fund, which the company is matching.
  • In Marshall, North Carolina, friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the owner of a local shop, On Your Bike, which was heavily damaged in the storm.
  • There is also a campaign to support the Bicycle Thrift Store, an Asheville nonprofit store.
  • Sycamore Cycles, a retailer with two stores in Western North Carolina, is selling T-shirts and hats to support relief efforts.
  • World Central Kitchen is setting up food aid kitchens in North Carolina and Florida. They can be supported at donate.wck.org.
  • The Red Cross fund specific to Helene recovery efforts is at redcross.org/donate/dr/hurricane-helene.
  • GoFundMe also has a general campaign — started by the platform, not an individual — that is making grants to support hurricane relief.
