BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — SmartEtailing updated its software to include a home-delivery shipping option for its IBD subscribers that enables delivery of assembled bikes from their inventory.
The free update was created because of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting consumer bike shop access and social distancing guidelines being extended.
Consumers can fulfill transactions completely online, with the option of home delivery at checkout. Before the update, most shops had store pick-up only. The home delivery offer is for bikes in stock and at their suppliers' warehouses. The retailer will determine whether to charge for delivery.
"Whereas some brands are now allowing bike shops to ship bikes via carrier, fewer shops can react quickly to that change," said Ashley Rosonke, SmartEtailing communications manager. "With local home delivery, bike shops can deliver bikes without having to overcome the operational challenges of building, reboxing, and shipping by carrier."
To further help increase online bike sales, SmartEtailing also enhanced integration with PayPal so retailers can offer PayPal Financing. Consumers can spread their payments while retailers get immediate full payment. Both features are offered at no additional cost to subscribers.
SmartEtailing has worked with retailers in recent weeks to respond to the virus, adjusting websites with information about store operations and configuring them with shopping cart and curbside pickup functionality.
SmartEtailing also has created a bike retailer help center with communication tools and tactics for subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
SmartEtailing was formed in 1999 to provide website, marketing, and data solutions to help IBDs and suppliers sell products in-store and online.
