Ft. Myers, FL and Irvine, CA (Dec 12, 2023) - The Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA), in partnership with the National Bike Dealers Association (NBDA) and the Chicago Area Bike Dealers Association, is proud to bring fresh e-bike training content to CABDA MidWest 2024 from February 6-8. Together, they are adding three education opportunities to visiting retailers, including a half-day hands-on Technician Training Workshop on the day before CABDA officially opens, a Battery Safety & Handling Certification on both show days, and a presentation on the state of the U.S. E-Bike Market in 2024 including forecast on how the market will develop in the coming years.

E-Bike Technician Training Workshop

Registrants of this workshop will learn the fundamentals of batteries, motors, and controllers to fix most e-bike issues with the ultimate goal of building confidence and removing fear or anxiety while working on e-bikes. Upon completion and passing a test, registrants will become a LEVA Trained Technician, receive a window sticker for their shop, and have the option to sign up for the full Live-Online LEVA E-Bike Technician Training and Certification 4-level program at a discount. This special CABDA half-day workshop has been adapted from the original two full- day LEVA Technician Training Program developed by Dr. Don Gerhardt and Ed Benjamin, taught to over 1600 bike mechanics worldwide since 2008. The training will be held Tuesday, February 6th 2024, 1-5pm in the Schaumburg Ballroom. Retailers can visit https://levassociation.com/CABDA to learn more and register.

Battery Safety & Handling Certification Training and LEVA Tech Training Intro
In this seminar, attendees will learn how to minimize battery safety risks to shop and staff while also turning battery service into a revenue stream. They will learn battery storage & charging best practices for optimal safety and battery life; what e-bike batteries to accept for service, what to turn away, and how to identify; how to manage battery End-of-Life (recycling vs. repair); and shipping & receiving best practices based on the latest guidance from U.S. Department of Transportation. The training will be held Wednesday Feb 7th and Thursday Feb 8th in the Schaumburg Ballroom and is open to all CABDA attendees free of charge.

State of the U.S. E-Bike Market in 2024 & Fearless Forecast
In this seminar, attendees will hear an assessment of eBike market size based on the past four years of growth and latest 2023 import data. The presenters will also assess the key forces driving the market in 2024 and beyond.

This exclusive CABDA content will be taught by Ed Benjamin, Martin Massuh, and Dr. Jonathan Weinert. Ed Benjamin, Founder and Chairman of the Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA), has experience covering the last 40 years of the bicycle industry and has been involved in electric bicycles and LEV companies (electric scooters, motorcycles, drive systems, batteries, motors and controllers) since 1996. Martin Massuh, LEVA Executive Director, is a Certified Technician and Instructor who has shaped and developed LEVA's online training and certification, certifying more than 1,000 bike mechanics around the world since 2018. Dr. Weinert, LEVA Vice-Chairman, is a published expert on electric two-wheelers with 20 years experience at global corporations like Bosch, Gates, and Ford in both technical and commercial roles.

These are just a few of the many educational opportunities available to retailers attending CABDA MidWest this year.
