BikeExchange North America has announced the hiring of Gary Thornton, the most recent in a spate of new sales and business development hires in the last two months.

The hires for the North American region of the business follow the successful IPO for the BikeExchange global business on the ASX in February this year. The process also raised $20m in growth capital to assist in scaling the business further across it's eight markets and four regions.

Thornton has a well established career in the US cycling industry across a number of key brands and organisations including Giant, Scott, Cannondale and Bicycle Blue Book. Thornton will be responsible for the development of key brand, distributor business development and partnerships as BikeExchange looks to grow its North American footprint.

On the appointment Steve Hellin, BikeExchange Head of North America said, " We're delighted Gary is joining the BikeExchange team, Gary has strong experience from a variety of industry brands and we are excited to see Gary get to work in this exciting growth phase for BikeExchange. The sales and business development team have now grown to 6 people in the last 6 weeks."

On his appointment Thornton said, "The more I talked with the team at BikeExchange about the opportunity I felt there was a fit and exciting road ahead. I'm really looking forward to starting and adding value to the team and sales function. There is a wonderful opportunity ahead."

BikeExchange North America has hired five other key sales staff in the last 8 weeks including Chris Hopwood as Head of Sales, formally from CSG. In addition BikeExchange has also added a new Head of Customer Success Jacqui Ball to help evolve the customer experience function and process,

Thornton started the new role on 17th May.
