The Board of Directors of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) is extremely pleased to announce that after a thorough and rigorous candidate search, Travis Counsell has been selected as the next Executive Director of NEMBA.

Travis is originally from Vermont and currently resides in Fairfield, Connecticut. Travis has a degree in Environmental Studies from Elon University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii. Travis spent time studying in New Zealand and has only just moved back to New England from Kailua, Hawaii. While in Hawaii, Travis worked for the Hawaii Bicycling League as an events director, grants manager and membership coordinator. He has worked in bike shops and was the owner of a bike rental and touring company in Hawaii. He also served as the president of Oahu Mountain Bike Ohana IMBA chapter.

Travis brings a great mix of passion for mountain biking and mountain biking advocacy with a broad set of skills covering business management, development, event planning, communications, and the importance of relationship building at all levels of our sport.

Please join us in welcoming Travis to NEMBA! He is enthusiastically looking forward to getting to know all of our chapters and the great trails we all help support across New England.

About NEMBA

NEMBA is a recreational trails advocacy organization with 28 chapters throughout New England and over 7,000 members. Our mission is to promote the best that mountain biking has to offer, steward the trail systems where we recreate and preserve open space. We are an educational 501 (c) 3 non-profit.

We lead nearly a thousand mountain bike rides a season, put on various skills clinics and trail building schools, and advocate for mountain biking and recreational trails. We put on hundreds of trail building and maintenance events in scores of parks in the region, and donate over 8,000 hours of volunteerism to local parks.

We work with key leaders and land managers to protect our sport and allow our members to give back to the trails and to the sport they love.
