The festival will bring all types of cyclists together this summer in Saalbach – Austria's biggest bike region

10th February 2020 – Bath, UK: Play Sports Group, the world's leading creator of cycling digital video, has launched Global Bike Festival – a brand new cycling and entertainment concept hosted by the team behind the largest road cycling and mountain biking channels: Global Cycling Network (GCN), Global Mountain Bike Network (GMBN) and Electric Mountain Bike Network (EMBN).

Set in the stunning alpine landscape of Saalbach, Austria, from 18-21 June 2020, Global Bike Festival is the unparalleled playground for cyclists of all abilities, with miles of routes, trails, climbs and descents designed for road, gravel, mountain bike and electric mountain bike riders.

Across the four days at the ultimate summer party of cycling, après-ride, music and entertainment, festival-goers can enjoy world-class riding, live shows, hands-on bike tech tuition and coaching clinics by day, with epic parties and top DJ sets by night. From the famous Grossglockner – the highest paved road in Austria for the road cyclists – and hundreds of kilometres of gravel trails, to over 400km of downhill, cross-country and all-mountain routes for the off-road riders, there really is something for everyone.

The festival is the first all-encompassing cycling event from the UK-based media company Play Sports Group (PSG), which was acquired by media giant Discovery, Inc. last year. The event in June is powered by PSG's industry-leading channels GCN, GMBN and EMBN, which have achieved more than 3.3million YouTube subscribers across the three channels alone.

James Pope, Events Director at Play Sports Group, said: "The launch of Global Bike Festival marks an important stage in the development of the events business at Play Sports Group, bringing together our road and off-road channels GCN, GMBN and EMBN to create a new multi-discipline cycling experience. We are excited to bring this concept to life in partnership with Saalbach to capitalise upon the location's world-class reputation as a mountain bike destination and combine this with excellent road and gravel routes, as well as plenty of entertainment off the bike to create the ultimate weekend for cycling fans."

With more people than ever taking up cycling of all disciplines, this is a prime opportunity to bring road cyclists, gravel riders, mountain bikers and electric mountain bikers together, from all over the world, into one place.

Wolfgang Breitfuß, Director of the Tourism Board in Saalbach, said: "We are super happy to bring this world-class event to Saalbach and proud to be a partner of the Global Cycling Network. Hosting such an event is the perfect fit for our destination and we're looking forward to four days of action in Austria's biggest bike region."

The channels and presenters that fans have come to know and love will play a vital role in giving visitors the desired "brand" experience; with riding, community and fun at the very heart and soul of the event.

Global Bike Festival is set to be the start of things to come for sports entertainment concepts from PSG, as Saalbach has confirmed a three-year partnership with the event; so cycling festival fans can look forward to more summers of fun in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
