Industry mourns Estelle Gray of R&E Cycles

Published September 3, 2024

SEATTLE (BRAIN) — Estelle Gray, a longtime retailer and industry leader, died July 26 at 69, three years after being diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Gray was a co-owner of R&E Cycles and was active in industry groups including the National Bicycle Dealers Association. She was a longtime advocate of women in the bike industry.

After selling R&E Cycles she moved to Sacramento and had a successful career as a middle school special education teacher and cycling advocate, said Sal Edwards, her life partner and spouse.

"I am learning that the deeper the love, the deeper the loss. We will all feel this loss of a woman words cannot describe for her kindness and caring for so many especially for children and for those who are challenged. She deeply cared for everyone who came into her life," Edwards said.

There will be two Celebration of Life gatherings in Gray's memory. One is Sept. 22 in Sacramento, California, and the other will be in Seattle on Sept. 29.
