COSTA MESA, Calif. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association is making individual memberships available for the first time in the association's 70-year history. The program will launch this weekend at QBP's Frostbike event.
Individual memberships will be open to full-time employees of independent bicycle dealerships. Member benefits include:
- Access to, and discounted pricing on, all NBDA Industry reports
- Access to their own Individual Member forum
- 10 percent off any one Barnett Bicycle Institute class
- Subscription to NBDA's members-only monthly publication The Outspokin
- Subscription to Bicycle Retailer & Industry News.
- Buy Where Your Ride sticker pack
"The idea was spawned many years ago when I tried to join the NBDA as an individual. I was managing a successful chain of stores and saw the NBDA as an organization that could help me increase my professionalism. When I asked to join I found that there was no membership level that could accommodate my request," said Todd Grant, the president of the NBDA. "At our board meeting in January of 2016 the NBDA board agreed that there are many individuals that see the bicycle industry as their lifetime profession and it was time for us to further our support of their goals. Creating the individual membership level creates a point of entry to the NBDA that did not previously exist and helps to ensure that existing dealers have a well trained staff, and future dealers coming through the NBDA are set-up for success."
NBDA will be signing up new members at Frostbike. Membership applications and sign-up also will be available online at NBDA.com.
