COSTA MESA, Calif. (BRAIN) — With one week until the application deadline of March 31, dealers are applying in record numbers to be considered as one of America's Best Bike Shops.
"Interest is really strong this year and we're expecting a lot of applications to arrive next week with the Thursday deadline," said the National Bicycle Dealers Assocation's Karen Townsend. "Our advice would be to apply today and avoid the rush."
In its fourth year, the NBDA program is focused on identifying and recognizing the best bicycle retailers in the country. It is also intended to encourage others to improve their businesses to meet evolving consumer needs.
All independent bicycle dealers may apply, free of charge, to be considered one of America's Best Bike Shops. They are asked to provide measureable detail that explains what sets their stores apart from others. The NBDA then sends a mystery shopper to evaluate the shopping experience, the website, and how the store handles telephone inquiries. The result is a point total. Those with enough points are awarded the designation as one of America's Best Bike Shops. Those without enough points can receive feedback on areas where they can improve. Those selected are featured in Bicycle Retailer and Industry News and are invited to an exclusive celebration at Interbike. They are also entitled to use the America's Best Bike Shop press releases and logos to promote their businesses locally.
The on-line application can be accessed here: nbda.com/goto/abbsapplication.
Program sponsors are PeopleforBikes, Primal, Marsh & McLennan Agency, BRAIN and Rocky Mounts.
