Published June 24, 2013

FULLERTON, CA (BRAIN) — To address what it sees as a knowledge gap among consumers about carbon fiber technology, Southern California retailer East West Bikes on Friday will host industry pioneers from Cervélo, Parlee and Enve Composites for a full day of activities and evening forum titled “Night of Carbon.”

Following a morning ride, East West will present a product showcase from noon to 5 p.m. featuring the three carbon manufacturers. From 5 to 7 p.m., Cervélo’s Don Guichard, Enve founder Jason Schiers and Bob Parlee will discuss the history of carbon fiber in cycling, recap the current state of the industry, and preview near- and longer-term advances. A simultaneous webcast of the forum will be available on the Facebook event site. Questions can be submitted via Twitter at @EastWestBikes.

“There are a slew of new products on the market featuring advanced carbon engineering, while experts note there is plenty of room for innovation,” said Banning Fiber-Ostrow, co-owner of East West along with Eric Popiel. “On the eve of the start of the 2013 Tour de France, we thought the time was right to demystify carbon and bring our customers the insight they need when considering the latest technology.”
