Sickler’s Bike & Sport expands to third location

Published March 18, 2013

HAWLEY, PA (BRAIN) — Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, Pennsylvania retailer Sickler’s Bike & Sport has now opened a third location, this time in a historic mill building.

The Hawley Silk Mill LLC, a group of local investors, is in the midst of a multi-stage redevelopment of its namesake building as a mixed-use commercial center. Sickler’s is housed on the mill’s ground floor with other retailers and independent businesses, receiving foot traffic from the professionals occupying office space on the second floor and students attending the Lackawanna College on the top floor. The mill complex also houses a riverside boutique hotel drawing vacationers from all over the New York metropolitan area, noted Zach Wentzel, general manager at Sickler’s.

Already a Cannondale dealer, Sickler’s is deepening its relationship with brand parent Cycling Sports Group at the new location, which opened March 1 with a grand opening planned for May 11. “We’re picking up GT and Schwinn because they recently became available in our area,” Wentzel said.

CSG is helping out with custom displays and banners to outfit the 2,000-square-foot store, significantly smaller than Sickler’s locations in Exeter and Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Other bike brands include Scott, Jamis and Niner.
