Box Components recalls BMX stems because of faceplate defect

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Box Components is recalling its BMX Race Box One Oversized 31.8 Delta stems because the faceplate can crack and break.

About 160 stems are affected, and there has been one report of a faceplate cracking. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the stems and contact Box Components for a refund or free replacement stem, including shipping.

The recalled stems have dual-tone gray stripes, laser-etched at an approximate 45-degree angle on the body's sides. "Boxone" and the Box icon are also laser-etched. The stems were sold separately from bicycles. Bolts used in the stems are 6mm in diameter and 20mm in length. The stems were sold in various colors including black, red, blue, gold, purple and silver.

They were sold at BMX Race dealers nationwide and online at from January 2023 through October 2023 for about $100.
