Atomik Carbon introduces its first road wheels

Published May 20, 2016

TAMPA, Fla. (BRAIN) — Atomik Carbon, which launched in 2014 with carbon fiber mountain bike wheels and components, is entering the road market with a line of three carbon road clincher wheels.

The three tubeless-ready carbon clincher wheels have 38-, 50- and 85-millimeter depths, and an Aero-U profile designed for speed and predictable handling. The rims use a proprietary prepreg and layup process and Japanese Toray composite technology. They are directionally drilled for spoking. The wheels are built with Sandvik stainless steel bladed spokes (18 front and 24 rear) laced to Atomik six-pawl hubs.

All three wheels feature a proprietary resin braking surface that has been more than three years in development by Atomik. The company said the brake surface offers industry-leading performance in wet or dry conditions. Disc brake wheels will be released in the coming months.

"While we believe greatly in the benefits of a quality carbon wheel on the trail, we know that there's an incredible opportunity to translate our carbon technology to provide a technical advantage in road cycling," said Kevin Lineberger, Atomik's vice president. "The early feedback and demand has been overwhelming."

The wheels ship pre-taped for tubeless setup and come with a 'Century Pack' that includes one extra spoke of each spoke length, a 10-speed spacer, skewers, tubeless valves, high-performance carbon black brake pads and a voucher for one free set of replacement OEM brake pads by the original owner.

Atomik Carbon Road Wheels are backed by a one-year no-questions-asked replacement warranty covering up to two rims for the original owner. All three models retail for $1,549.
