LANCASTER, Pa. (BRAIN) — Surly announced two new products — a new front rack that comes in two versions, and a 26 x 2.5-inch touring tire — at the QBP Biketoberfest dealer event, being held here this week.
The Surly 8-Pack Rack and 24-pack Rack are utility porteur-style chromoly front racks. The company said they are "less intense" than its touring racks but use the same basic construction. They are designed to attach to forks that use mid-blade and fork-crown eyelets or unicrown barrel bosses. They are made with 10mm diameter chromoly, clear coated or coated black. They include stainless steel hardware.
The 6-Pack model has a platform that is 160mm x 270mm; the 24Ppack model has a 400mmx270mm platform. The 8-Pack retails for $110 and the 24-Pack retails for $150.
Surly's new Extra Terrestrial tire is made for heavy duty on- or offroad touring. The 26 x 2.5-inch tire has 62A durometer rubber, a 60 tpi casing and a Kevlar cap under the tread and a nylon anti-cut reinforcement in the sidewall. It has a tubeless-compatible bead and directional tread pattern. MSRP is $60.
