Crankbrothers launches new pumps, tools

Published March 19, 2013

LAGUNA BEACH, CA (BRAIN)—Crankbrothers has gone back to its roots—the brand got its start in pumps and tools before expanding into pedals and other components—with new multi-tool and inflation product series.

The Sterling premium pump collection features a CNC’d and laser-etched outer body, Presta and Schrader compatibility, a high/low volume function and comes in two lengths—either with or without an oversized gauge. Suggested retail ranges from $35-$45.

Rounding out the line is the Sterling co2 inflator and cartridges. The inflator has push-spring air control, frost guards to protect hands from cold co2, and includes two 16g threaded cartridges, which are also available individually. The inflator retails for $20.

At the entry level, Crankbrothers’ short-length Gem pumps have a reversible internal head for Presta and Schrader, the same high/low volume function as the Sterling pumps, and come in eye-popping colors. Suggested retail: $22-$27.

The B-Series tools are bit-based tool system that includes a magnetized bit socket to help keep the bit firmly in place as cyclists work on their bikes. The bit holder stays closed, so bits never fall out or get lost. The tool can be customized by simply swapping out bits, which are a standard size that can be purchased at any hardware store. The series includes three models, ranging from $20-$33.
