Sean Weide, cycling team press officer, dies at 49

OMAHA, Neb. (BRAIN) — Sean Weide, a longtime press officer and communications manager for pro road racing teams, died unexpectedly on Tuesday. He was 49.

Weide most recently worked with the Axeon Hagens Berman cycling team. He previously worked with the BMC Racing Team, Team Type 1, Rock Racing and Toyota-United. Prior to that he worked in sports public relations and as a journalist, including five years as a news producer for Omaha's KMTV.

Weide's five daughters, who he called "The Princesses," were often featured in his active social media accounts. They announced his death via Facebook on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday, the family announced plans for a memorial service.

A visitation will be held Friday at St. Thomas More Church, starting at 4 p.m., followed by rosary at 6:30 p.m. 

A funeral mass will be  10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Church. 

In lieu of flowers, family prefers Masses or contributions to Weide Princesses Scholarship Fund.  Donations may be sent to
