BERKELEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Roxanne Vogel has joined Gu Energy Labs as sports nutritionist, a new position for the company. Vogel will be the in-house nutrition expert, responsible for the development and implementation of a sports nutrition service program, and will report to Magdalena Boulet, Gu's vice president of research and development.
Vogel joins from Texas Woman's University, where she completed her graduate degree and conducted research in Exercise and Sports Nutrition, and before that, was at MusclePharm as a research assistant.
"She will serve as a trusted resource in providing the athletic community with information on proper nutrition and consumption timing for training and races, incorporating both GU products and a more holistic nutritional approach that takes into account general diet and whole foods," the company said.
"By translating the latest scientific evidence into practical recommendations, Vogel will provide tools and resources to educate GU consumers, athletes, ambassadors, retailers, event participants, and sales representatives. She will work with the GU team to create customized nutrition plans for athletes and respond to consumer questions via GU's website and social media channels, addressing all areas of the committed athlete's daily nutrition and performance."
Vogel said, "I'm thrilled to join the GU team in this exciting new role. Without proper planning tools and education, a strong sports nutrition offering is only part of the equation. As a scientist and fellow athlete, I look forward to bridging the gap between research and practice to help the GU community achieve their personal goals through effective nutrition plans tailored to their sports of choice."
Vogel's hire coincides with GU's recent addition to its website: nutrition plans to help meet athletic goals and optimize performance. These guides can be accessed at GUEnergy.com/nutrition-plan.
