FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Pedego Electric Bikes has hired veteran bicycle engineer Michael A. Fritz as the brand's director of engineering. Fritz will oversee all aspects of Pedego electric bike engineering, technology and product development as well as customer support, the company said.
Pedego's technical department staff will report directly to Fritz, and he will report to Pedego CFO and co-founder Terry Sherry.
"With the hiring of Fritz, Pedego is expanding its commitment to first-class design of future generations of Pedego bikes," the company said.
Fritz said, "I look forward to working with this team to support Pedego's amazing growth and success."
Fritz brings more than 40 years of experience in engineering, engineering management and product development. He has held engineering and engineering management positions at several bike companies including Schwinn, Huffy, Brunswick Bicycles and Pacific Cycles. In 1997, he was recruited by Lee Iacocca to join EV Global Motors as VP Product Development. For the past few years, Fritz has run a technical consulting firm advising foreign and domestic companies in the LEV industry. He holds a master's degree in Engineering Management and a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering.
"Mike Fritz and Pedego Electric Bikes make a great fit," said Pedego Electric Bikes CEO and co-founder Don DiCostanzo. "It takes qualified personnel to design and build high-quality electric bikes. We work only with the best so that we can provide the best."
