BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Bicycle Retailer & Industry News will sponsor the leadership awards being given out by the Outdoor Industries Women's Coalition.
Nominations are being accepted now through July 29 for the OIWC's 2016 Bicycle Leadership Awards.
These awards, which include the Pioneering Woman Award and the First Ascent Award, were established by OIWC to honor women who have made significant achievements in the bicycle industry while working toward greater diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
"Recognizing female talent and leadership in the bicycle industry is critical to ensuring we're an industry that values the impact women have on its growth and success," said Megan Tompkins, BRAIN's publisher. "We're proud to partner with OIWC to honor these women transforming the industry."
The Pioneering Woman Award honors an industry leader who has proven leadership skills and has paved the way for other women; the First Ascent Award honors an up-and-coming leader who shows strong potential for being an industry influencer.
Past winners include Jessica Klodnicki, of Bell Helmets and Blackburn; Jenn Dice, of PeopleForBikes; Marilyn Price of Trips for Kids; Jennifer Pagels of Trek Bicycle; and Milay Galvez of Advanced Sports International.
"OIWC is ensuring the bicycle industry is a place where women can excel and thrive," said Deanne Buck, executive director of OIWC. "We're excited to have BRAIN sponsor these important industry awards."
Nominations must be completed and submitted by July 29 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Winners will be announced in August and honored in September at Interbike 2016 in Las Vegas.
