EVT changes pricing structure, updates bearing press for BB30

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Efficient Velo Tools has updated its pricing so that some of its tools now have the same price for wholesale or consumer customers. The company also has announced updates to its bearing press tool.

The Oregon toolmaker said there was little need to have a retail price for some of its shop-specific tools, including its flagship product, the E-Z Lift Repair Stand. The repair stand previously had a retail price of $2,840 and a shop/wholesale price of $2,000. Now the company is simply advertising the stand at $2,000 for all customers.

"We had a margin built in for sales to consumers, but not too many consumers are buying $2,000 repair stands," said Andy McKerrow, an efficiency consultant to EVT.

The one-tier pricing applies to all EVT Signature tools, which include the Smoothie Headset Press, the Slider Crown Race Press, and its Ultra Tru-Arc Derailleur Alignment Gauge.

Other EVT products that have more of a consumer market, including EVT's Safe Zone helmet mirror, continue to have a wholesale price and a suggested retail price, which is shown on the EVT website.

EVT also announced that it is now making BB30 bearing adapters for its Smoothie Headset Press. The BB30 adapters can be reversed to use to press in Chris King headsets. The press also includes adapters for 1-inch, 1⅛-inch, and 1.5-inch standard headsets.
