MEQUON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Hayes Performance Systems has hired Philip Ott for its Hayes Bicycle Group's marketing team. Ott, based in Crested Butte, Colorado, will serve as a mobile marketing specialist for Hayes, as part of the "Hayes Road Show."
The Road Show will visit North American bicycle dealers, providing support and training for all Hayes Performance Systems brands, including Hayes Disc Brake, Manitou, Sunringlé, Answer and Wheelsmith. Ott will also promote and support Hayes's minimum advertised pricing policy.
Ott's new role with Hayes is a progression of a long standing relationship. In 2007, he began as a Hayes elite-sponsored athlete. He later became a Hayes development rider, then became the brand's premiere Test Pilot, and will continue providing detailed feedback directly to the company's product development teams. Ott is an avid snowmobiler, motorcyclist, and an accomplished mountain biker. He has a long list of race accomplishments, including a first place in the pro downhill at Crankworx Colorado in 2009.
Ott previously owned and operated Quick Stop Bike Shop in Marquette, Michigan.
"Ott's combined experience as a professional athlete, independent bike shop owner, and Hayes Test Pilot equate to the ideal candidate for the Mobile Marketing Specialist role," the company said.
Ott is canvasing the country in a new, decked-out Ford Transit 2500 HD turbo diesel. The Hayes Road Show is also supported by GoPro, Clif Bar, J.W. Speaker, WeatherTech, and Park Tool.
