Marin donates bikes to San Rafael Fire Department

NOVATO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Marin Mountain Bikes Inc. has donated four mountain bikes to the San Rafael (California) Fire Department to use in a bicycle-mounted Fire Medic program.

The bicycles, Marin Bobcat Trail 9.5 sport hardtails, will be used by the fire department to help quickly respond to areas of the community, particularly open space, that are frequently used by mountain bikers and other recreational users.

"We're grateful for the donation that Marin Bikes has made," said Christopher Gray, San Rafael's fire chief.

The bikes will help paramedics respond to incidents in the popular China Camp State Park trails and other open space areas.

Marin CEO Matt VanEnkevort said, "Marin County has many remote and natural places that are only accessible by foot, bike or horseback. Along with the other users that share this resource, we know that accidents sometimes happen, in spite of our experience and care. When things go wrong, first responders such as firefighters, police officers and EMTs stand ready to help. Marin Bikes values their steadfast readiness, and is really pleased to be able to help the San Rafael Fire Department access the trails more quickly and efficiently by donating these bikes. Quicker access for first responders means faster relief for hikers, bikers and other trail users in trouble, and that's a great thing to contribute to."
