Saris Group expands factory

Published April 1, 2016

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Saris Cycling Group is adding 18,375-square feet to their current 50,000 square-foot facility.

Since Chris and Sara Fortune bought the company, then known as Graber Products, in 1989, it has expanded greatly as it acquired CycleOps indoor bike trainers and PowerTap cycling power meters. With those acquisitions the company expanded its manufacturing capacity to include a wheel building machine, in-house welding, calibration machines, bending machines, sewing stations and a dedicated tool shop.

By the time construction is done in May, SCG's offices will have gone from a Civil War-era farm house and chicken coup to a farm-house-turned-offices with three football fields of machining, tooling and manufacturing, employing over 180 workers.

"The expansion will allow us to redesign our facility to improve our ability to meet our manufacturing goal, which is to give our customers what they want, when they want it," said SCG's executive vice president, Bill Shager. "This requires us to up our game to meet shorter and shorter time expectations while shipping the highest quality, USA-made cycling products."

The world headquarters for Saris Cycling Group will remain located at 5253 Verona Rd, Madison, WI, 53711.
