DETROIT (BRAIN) — Urban bike maker Detroit Bikes has hired former Electra sales leader Justin Manthe as its national sales director.
Detroit Bikes makes its signature bikes, as well as those it contract manufactures for other brands, in a 50,000-square-foot factory on the west side of the Motor City.
“I see many parallels between Electra and where Detroit Bikes is today,” Manthe said. “I was so impressed with the clarity of their vision that I jumped at the chance to be a part of the team. Detroit Bikes is building bikes that are for everyone — not just for cycling enthusiasts. We're on the path to create something really big here.”
In his new role, Manthe will be in charge of increasing the Detroit Bikes’ market exposure by positioning the brand at hundreds of retailers across North America.
“This is a big addition for us. Justin's experience and strong industry relationships will be a crucial asset for Detroit Bikes,” said Zak Pashak, Detroit Bikes’ founder and president.
Manthe worked at Electra for almost 14 years. He has also held sales roles at Yakima and, most recently, One Industries.
