U.S. subsidiary of Brazilian folding bike maker seeks local dealers as well.

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — Durban Bikes, a 4-year-old folding bike maker based in Brazil, has launched in the U.S. through agreements with Target and Sports Authority.

The brand’s full line of 16- and 20-inch-wheeled folders is being sold on the Target.com website, while two models — the 20-inch Bay 6 and Bay Pro — will be available in-store at select Sports Authority locations. Bikes will also be made available soon on Sports Authority’s website.

Durban additionally has been selling consumer direct from its website since late 2014. Models are priced from $250-$1,500, and Durban claims the bikes can be collapsed in as little as 15 seconds for easy storage.

Durban Bikes USA is also looking to sign up independent dealers. Interested dealers can apply via the website.

“The demand for folding bikes is growing rapidly, and we’ve received immediate and enthusiastic interest in our product lineup. Retailers recognize the bikes are extremely well-made, well-designed and competitively priced,” said David White, managing director of Durban Bikes USA.
