BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — TrainingPeaks has entered into a partnership with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association to provide discounted training software and educational content for interscholastic mountain bike team coaches.
The company will provide NICA coaches and student-athletes with training resources, tools and discounts on its training software. Key to the partnership is ongoing education for coaches to help them develop training plans and better analyze student-athlete progress, NICA stated in a release.
"We are thrilled to partner with TrainingPeaks to provide additional support to our growing legion of coaches across the country who are working hard to help teenagers effectively and safely improve their physical fitness while learning how to set and attain reasonable goals, both mentally and physically," said Austin McInerny, NICA's executive director.
For TrainingPeaks, the partnership is a way to help the entire NICA program succeed and introduce youth and young adults to the sport of mountain biking. "We are proud to play a part in the development of the next generation of cyclists," TrainingPeaks president Dirk Friel said. "Learning how to properly structure a training program along with balancing academic responsibilities teaches young adults valuable life-long lessons."
TrainingPeaks will also offer discounted Coach and Athlete Edition subscriptions and aid in fundraising campaigns for NICA teams.
Founded in 2009, NICA has more than 5,000 student-athletes and nearly 2,000 coaches across 14 states.
