BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Jim Kelley has been promoted to president of The NPD Group's Sports and Leisure Trends businesses.
Kelley had been president of Leisure Trends Group, which was acquired by The NPD Group last year. The promotion puts him in charge of NPD's other sports-related market research. Kelley will remain based in Boulder, Colo.
Kelley joined Leisure Trends in 2009 as vice president of consumer research and later became the company's chief operating officer.
"The NPD Group is creating a new entity that's greater than the sum of its parts, with the largest POS footprint in the industry – over 26,000 stores – and the capacity to provide new solutions for the sports industry through new categories and additional channel views in the U.S. and worldwide," said Dennis Brown, the president of Americas commercial business for NPD. "Jim Kelley brings a wealth of analytical, strategic, and marketplace knowledge, which will be invaluable as we build upon the combined strengths of both companies."
Kelley said, "I look forward to leading the combined NPD and Leisure Trends team, providing clients the most comprehensive view of retail sales in the U.S. sports marketplace, as well as other solutions that will allow them to drive better business decisions throughout their organizations."
