SANTA MONICA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Energy bar make Bonk Breaker has expanded its relationship with USA Cycling, which began last year. The company has extended the agreement for multiple years and will now have a "substantial" presence at key USA Cycling events, offer benefits to USA Cycling members and provide nutritional support to Team USA.

"The strong partnership we've forged with USA Cycling has personal meaning to me as a long-time competitive cyclist," said Bonk Breaker co-CEO and chairman Chris Frank, a Cat. 1 cyclist who has competed in USA Cycling events since 1986. "But more importantly it provides us with a unique opportunity to supply quality sports nutrition to a broad-based athlete demographic and to support the healthy lifestyle that is synonymous with the Bonk Breaker brand."

Steve Johnson, CEO and president of USA Cycling, said, "As athletes themselves, the team behind the Bonk Breaker brand truly understands the need for quality nutrition.

"Their products not only taste great, they're crafted from premium real food ingredients. We couldn't be happier to have Bonk Breaker on board as a partner in our quest to improve and expand the sport of cycling throughout the U.S."

Frank lauded USA Cycling's expanded anti-doping efforts and new "Race Clean" initiative as a compelling factor in solidifying the long-term partnership. "Our belief is that with proper nutrition, athletes can perform at extremely high levels," he said. "USA Cycling shares this belief and is committed to supporting clean competition. Our role as a nutrition partner is to provide great-tasting, real food fuel to help naturally optimize athletes' peak performances."

Bonk Breaker also sponsors individual Olympic athletes Sarah Hammer and Dotsie Bausch, the USA National Team, the Hincapie Development Team and numerous local cycling clubs across the United States.
