NEWBURY PARK, Calif. (BRAIN) — Giant USA has hired Dave Maurer as its central region sales manager, the company said. Maurer, who until recently was the central region sales manager for Trek, will start with Giant on Feb. 17.
"Dave has an extensive cycling background," said John Thompson, Giant USA's executive sales director. "He's an industry veteran who has previously spent time growing and developing a major brand, where he was a sales leader. I've personally worked with Dave; in my opinion he is one the most respected and talented leaders in this business. He understands the opportunity and vision of Giant USA."
Maurer will oversee seven Giant account executives in a region covering 14 states, stretching from the Dakotas east to Ohio and Kentucky.
"I'm excited to discover the energy at Giant USA," he said. "It's clear Giant isn't comfortable with its current position in the U.S. market. There's a plan to change that, along with a sense of urgency and the resources to accomplish that goal.
"The most important thing I want these retailers to know is I'm a 'bike shop guy,'" he added. "I understand their business and their markets."
