Published January 24, 2014

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — The Open Streets Project, a collaboration between the Alliance for Biking & Walking and the The Street Plans Collaborative, will hold a summit in Los Angeles in early April to foster new open streets initiatives and expand existing ones.

The Open Streets Summit on April 4-6 coincides with this spring's CicLAvia, the open streets event being held April 6 on Los Angeles' Wilshire Boulevard from downtown to the Miracle Mile. CicLAvia is serving as co-host for the Summit, which will feature sessions for both novice and experienced open streets organizers led by experts from the Open Streets Project, CicLAvia and other groups.

Topics will include:

  • Building a coalition of supporters
  • Outreach to key community partners and stakeholders
  • Marketing and branding
  • Choosing a successful route
  • Sponsorship and fundraising
  • Organizing and recruiting volunteers
  • Evaluating your initiative

The Summit costs $295 for members of the Alliance for Biking & Walking and $395 for non-members. To register, go to openstreetsproject.org/summit.
