BPSA launches membership drive

Published September 10, 2013

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) — Supporters of the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association are hoping to push its membership count to over 100 companies for the first time for the organization's 100th anniversary next year.

The BPSA has mailed a promotional newsletter and invoices to 375 potential members; the group currently has 85 members.

BPSA signed on 10 new 2013-14 members before the mailing went out. Bianchi USA, Descente, Genuine Innovations, Linus Bikes, Mavic USA, Niner, Primal Wear, Slime, William Blair, and Yakima are now in the fold — none of them members in 2012-13.

"We're being really aggressive about recruiting new members, because we feel like all the great BPSA programs warrant the industry's support," said Pat Hus, BPSA Marketing committee chairman and president of Interbike. "We hope industry companies large and small will take a good look at all we're doing and join us in these important efforts."

BPSA has traditionally attracted the industry's large suppliers, noted Statistics committee chair Michael Forte. "While we are approaching 90 percent of the bikes sold in the US by BPSA member companies, our goal is to get more small and medium-sized companies engaged in the coming year. That allows for more accurate statistics as well as a united industry front."
