Yeti offshoot sells enduro series, ends MSC

Published November 5, 2012

GOLDEN, CO (BRAIN) — Bigfoot Productions, a company founded by the principals of Yeti Cycles, is selling its Big Mountain Enduro Series to Brandon Ontiveros, one of the founders of the Oregon Enduro Series. Ontiveros’ new promotion company will be named Big Mountain Enduro, LLC. Yeti will remain a title sponsor of the series.

Bigfoot also will discontinue the Mountain States Cup, a regional endurance and gravity series.

Yeti president Chris Conroy, who also owns Bigfoot Productions, said he got into race production to promote and support racing in the Rocky Mountain region.

“We’ve always looked to race promotion as a way of giving back to the community rather than a source of profit,” said Conroy. “We feel Brandon and his team will be great stewards of the series and look forward to exiting racing ahead.”

Conroy said that discontinuing the Mountain States Cup was "an emotional decision."

“We remain committed to gravity and endurance racing, but we found the increasing costs and decreasing participation made the MSC model unsustainable,” Conroy said. “It’s an emotional decision for us – we are huge fans of racing and hope that someone else will find a formula that brings back a gravity series in the future.”
