MOAB, UT (BRAIN) — The third annual Outerbike event in early October attracted more than 1,000 attendees, who enjoyed warm, dry conditions and a wide selection of demo bikes.
The event was Oct. 3-7. Events included bike demos, shuttled rides, lunch, beer, movies, parties and abundent swag. Attendees represented 42 U.S. states, every province in Canada, and several foreign countries including Australia, the U.K., Mexico and Singapore.
"We have two main kinds of attendees", says Sean Hazell, one of the organizers. "On one hand, we have folks that come because they are ready to purchase a new bike and Outerbike is the only real opportunity to test ride bikes back-to-back on killer trails. On the other hand, we have passionate riders looking for a fun way to experience the world-class riding Moab has to offer. Not surprisingly those who use this event as a inexpensive vacation end up falling in love with a new bike anyway!"
A new demo bike tagging system helped ensure everyone got a chance to try the bike they wanted. One color tag kept the bike on the trails surrounding the venue and the other tag allowed the bike to go on the shuttled rides.
"For 2013 we already have even more bikes lined up," said Ashley Korenblat, CEO of Western Spirit Cycling, the producer of Outerbike. Plus the accessory products, including outdoor gear of all types, is on deck to go big next year. We have been contacted by all kinds of companies, from packs to camping gear to lights to food."
