Trek's Burke to deliver Interbike keynote

Published August 13, 2012

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) Monday August 13 2012 8:21 AM MT—Even though Trek does not exhibit at the Interbike Expo, Trek Bicycle CEO John Burke will deliver the keynote address at the Las Vegas trade show next month, the show's organizers announced Monday.

Burke will speak at the show's inaugural Industry Breakfast, Wednesday September 19 at 7:30 am. The breakfast is being presented by Bikes Belong and the NBDA.

Interbike said Burke plans to "address a clear plan to get the U.S. bicycle business from $6B to $10B a year by 2020, and what the industry needs to do to make it happen."

“We’re fortunate to have such a well-respected leader like John speak to the industry at Interbike,” said Pat Hus, Interbike's managing director. “In 2002, John spoke at the NBDA-BPSA Joint Industry Education Conference on the building a stronger bicycle industry, and for those who were present – it was a powerful message. I am confident that his keynote will be of interest to all IBD’s – regardless of brand loyalty, and will be just as powerful. We hope this breakfast and John’s message will really set the tone for the show and for what we need to do as an industry to grow the business.”

Burke said, “I am honored to have this opportunity to speak at Interbike about such an important topic. This challenge is something we all need to wrap our arms around and understand clearly what all of us can do to create a bicycle-friendly America in our lifetime.”

A full breakfast will be served to the first 400 people in attendance.
