Rider on Dahon wins folding bike race

LONDON, UK (BRAIN) Thursday June 14 2012 6:45 AM MT—Dahon is promoting a win by one of its sponsored riders at a race sponsored by folding-bike competitor Tern.

Pro racer Jeroen Janssen, riding a custom limited edition carbon fiber Dahon, won the Tern Folding Bike Race, part of the IG London Nocturne races in London this weekend.

“I’d never seen a bike like this before” said Janssen, who races for the Raleigh-GAC cycling team in the UK. “The bike handled surprisingly well compared to my usual race bike and felt like a fast, solid package”.

The new carbon model is built on Dahon's Dalloy Hydroformed aluminum frame with DuraAce and Control tech components, a custom-made rigid fork, bullhorn handlebar and stem, a Concor Carbon saddle and Schwalbe Durano high pressure tires made exclusively for Dahon.

The race required competitors to wear business attire. They started 30 meters away from their folded bikes. At the start they had to run to their bikes, assemble them and then race five laps on a criterium course. A rider sponsored by Brompton was second to Janssen and a Tern-sponsored riders was third.
