Trek names new marketing personnel • Bianchi plans presence at Tour of California • Atlantic City trade shows join forces

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN) Friday May 11 2012 10:37 AM MT—Trek Bicycle has shifted the roles and responsibilities of several key members of its global marketing staff.

“The growth of the brand has led us to the changes we’re making today. These people are all great marketers and bring a lot of experience to their new roles,” said Dean Gore, Trek’s global director of marketing.

Michael Mayer, a former Trek brand manager, is returning to the company after an eight-year hiatus to become road and triathlon brand manager. During his time away from Trek, Mayer worked with a variety of athletic brands and founded his own marketing firm.

Michael Browne will move from Trek's mountain bike brand manager to being Bontrager global marketing manager, directing the marketing efforts of the Bontrager brand of cycling accessories for both hard and soft goods.

Travis Ott takes over as Trek's mountain bike brand manager, Browne's former role. Ott previously managed the marketing of the Gary Fisher Collection and Town category of bikes.

Atlantic City trade shows join forces

BROOMFIELD, CO (BRAIN) Friday May 11 2012 9:44 AM MT—Organizers of this August's Action Outdoor & Bike Expo are combining their show with the long-running Action Expo rep show. The combined show will be held Aug. 22-23.

National Business Media announced in January that it would hold the show and produce a bimonthly trade magazine aimed at bike, skate, surf and snow sports retailers.

Now the company is working with Mike Freihofer, the Action Expo’s founder, to combine their shows. Freihofer is joining the Action Outdoor & Bike Expo as a consultant for the combined show.

“For more than a decade now, the Action Expo has been producing a terrific regional rep show,” said Freihofer. “It’s long been an objective of mine to expand the scope and vision of our show, and NBM’s experience in this field is exactly what we needed. Our present show model was barely scratching the surface of the amount of business being done in our region,” he said.
