OLNEY, IL (BRAIN)—Hoss Active Sports Group (HASG) has opened for business distributing Challenge tires, Silca pumps, Echowell computers and Hiplok security products in the United States.
“After 40 years in the bike industry working for other people and seeing the good, bad, and the ugly I wanted a chance to run my company,” said Dave Hostetter, HASG’s owner.
“I’ve run companies before but it always seems the idea that started the company gets lost as the company ages. So this time as the owner, with no outside factors influencing the business, I can focus on doing the right thing for customers, employees, and vendors while at the same time protecting and growing the brands and providing a great working environment for our people,” he added.
HASG employs five people to staff its inside sales/customer service department and keep product flowing smoothly out of its 20,000 square-foot warehouse.
Hostetter is a distribution veteran—prior to HASG he launched Highway Two in 2006, serving as its president until April of this year. Before that he was president of Bike Mine and Continental's sales manager. His first real job after college, he said, was working for Black & Decker, which lasted two years, and he was back in the industry as an independent rep which transitioned into a sales manager position at Blackburn Designs—a job he left to start Ciclo Sport’s U.S. business.
