On Sunday, Giant is partnering with the city of Boston to celebrate the start of Boston Bike Week. An entire section of Kilmarnock Street in front of the Giant Cycling World store will be closed to traffic so bicyclists can enjoy a bike rodeo, a stunt show by freeride legend Jeff Lenosky and a police-escorted bike tour of the city’s bike lanes.
Not long ago, Boston was known as one of the least bicycle-friendly cities in the nation. But that began to change with Boston Bikes, an initiative by the office of Mayor Thomas M. Menino, which is dedicated to making Boston a world-class bicycling city. Since it was launched in 2007,
Boston Bikes has added 38 miles of bicycle lanes and more than 1500 bicycle-only parking spaces to the City. Bike ridership has more than doubled in Boston, too. On April 30 the League of American Bicyclists named Boston a silver-
level Bicycle Friendly Community.
Giant is proud to be the official bike supplier of Boston Bikes. Since 2009, Giant has donated more than 120 bicycles to Boston Bikes for use in community bike programs, and especially for riders in the Youth Cycling Program.
