Smith Named New X-Fusion GM, Tomac Moving

Published February 15, 2011

SANTA CRUZ, CA (BRAIN)—Tomac Bikes current owner Joel Smith has been named the new general manager of X-Fusion USA—a manufacturer of suspension forks and shocks.

“I am still the owner of Tomac, and I am doing both going forward,” Smith told Bicycle Retailer and Industry News late Tuesday night from Taiwan. “[I’ll be] moving both the family and Tomac to Santa Cruz April 1.” Tomac was relaunched in 2006 by the industry veteran Smith, and is located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

X-Fusion, founded in 1999, recently completed a move from Campbell, California, to its new location in Santa Cruz.

"There are some real advantages to being in Santa Cruz," Smith said in a press release. "The area is an obvious riding Mecca and draws a talented crew of individuals to work for the company.”

Smith went on to say that he sees enormous potential with the X-Fusion brand. “The company has been growing steadily over the past three years and the brand continues to gain influence,” Smith said. "Now is the time to capitalize on this upward trend.”
