Trek World Will Overlap Interbike in 2011

Published October 12, 2010

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN)⎯Trek will hold its private dealer product launch Aug. 7-10 next year, overlapping with Interbike, which takes place the same week.

Trek announced next year’s dates to dealers in a letter emailed today.

Interbike kicks off Aug. 8 with two days of Outdoor Demo at the Irvine Regional Park followed by the indoor show Aug. 10-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Due to the conflicting dates, Trek will drop out of Interbike’s Outdoor Demo in Anaheim. Trek hasn’t exhibited at the indoor show for many years.

“We will be dedicated to creating an awesome demo experience at Trek World, and while we love Interbike Outdoor Demo and have shown there for years, we cannot get our resources there in time to provide as great a demo experience as we would like,” said Eric Bjorling, Trek Bicycle’s media relations manager.

The largest bike supplier to the specialty channel typically hosts more than 1,000 shops every year at Trek World. The product launch is usually held in mid-August.

Now dealers are faced with a crunch if they intend to go to both events or most likely will have to choose one over the other.

“Dealers attending our event will probably miss the Outdoor Demo portion of next year’s Interbike, but they will be able to get to Anaheim in time for the inside show,” Bjorling said. “While our dealer events are scheduled over four days, we offer them an à-la-carte menu to choose from. Everyone tries to attend the opening day, and then may stay on one to three more days.”

Trek World was originally set for Aug. 10-12, but was moved up a couple of days to give dealers an opportunity to attend both.
