Audience members of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” literally rolled out of the TV studio on Earth Day, April 22. As part of its Earth Day of Giveaways, the popular daytime talk show host gave away a Specialized Globe Vienna to each show attendee that day. DeGeneres, a stand-up comedian, actress, Emmy Award-winner, and host of major award shows, first announced that one lucky audience member would take home the bike that has “tires that are virtually flat-proof and gears that make it easy to go up hill. It even has a bell,” she said, adding “Who am I kidding? You are all getting one.” Specialized’s Carmella Petitt said the company gave away a total of 350 bikes. “They called us,” said Petitt, adding that Specialized had never worked with the “Ellen” production crew before. “They had heard of the brand and thought it was a good fit for the show,” she added. The Globe Vienna is Specialized’s city bike built for every day commutes, fitness breaks or the casual loop. The base model retails for $420. The bike was included in Green Giveaway packages worth more than $1,200 that also included a re-usable Nathan Flip Straw Bottle, a Rusk blow dryer and straightening iron and Activeion Pro Cleaner.
