BIDDEFORD, ME (BRAIN)—Brands such as Trek and Fuji Bikes are partnering with college campuses, helping get the younger generation to class by bike instead of car.
The University of New England, for example, committed $50,000 to a program that purchased some 200 Trek mountain bikes, helmets and locks, according to the New York Times.
While Emory University has partnered with Fuji Bikes and Bicycle South, a local bike shop, providing 50 bikes that can be rented at no charge at six spots on campus. Students can also buy Fuji bikes at a discount and receive a free helmet, and lock lights from Emory, according to the New York Times.
